William Stackpole is a Lecturer in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Stevens Institute of Technology. He holds a BA in Music & Technology from Stevens (2012), an MM in Music Composition from The Juilliard School (2016), and an additional degree from Juilliard in 2022. His work focuses on visionary orchestral music and enigmatic compositions for soloists and small ensembles.
Stackpole’s research interests emphasize experimental approaches to orchestration, contemporary classical techniques, and the intersection of technology with traditional music forms. His compositions explore 'what if' scenarios, blending inventive structures with emotional depth.
He received the prestigious 2019 Rudolph Nissim Prize for his orchestral work fEED. His recent piece Halation Sketches was praised for its 'savage charm' and innovative use of instrumental possibilities.
