William Penn is a Professor in the Creative Writing Program at Michigan State University (MSU), affiliated with the Department of English within the College of Arts and Letters. He is a founding member of the Native American Writers' Circle and contributes to the American Indian Studies Program. Penn has authored seven books, including novels and essay collections, and has received prestigious awards such as the Stephen Crane Prize for Fiction (twice), the American Book Award, and the North American Indian Prose Award. His current projects include a new novel, *Hazing: A Novel in Ten Satires*, and revisions to film scripts. He teaches courses like ENG223 (Creative Non-Fiction) and ENG428 (Advanced Fiction Writing).
Research interests focus on creative writing, fiction, and essays exploring Native American themes, satire, and cultural criticism. His works often address identity, history, and social justice. Penn's publications span novels, short stories, and essays, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary and culturally rooted narratives.
