William P. Harris

William P. Harris, M.D., serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, he specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies, particularly primary liver cancers, bile duct cancers, and gastrointestinal cancers with hepatic metastases. His clinical practice spans Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center - South Lake Union and UW Medical Center – Montlake.

Dr. Harris completed his medical education at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Medical Oncology at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His academic journey also included a post-sophomore fellowship in Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Dr. Harris leads multiple clinical trials, including Phase I-III studies, investigating new treatments for gastrointestinal malignancies. He serves as the lead medical oncology consultant for the UW Primary Liver Tumor Multidisciplinary Clinic and contributes to national guidelines through the American Society of Clinical Oncology Hepatocellular Carcinoma Systemic Therapy Guideline Committee. His work extends to advisory roles with the GI Cancer Alliance and Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation.

He is integral to the UW Primary Liver Tumor Multidisciplinary Clinic and Multidisciplinary Pancreatic Cancer Clinic. Dr. Harris moderates the Gastrointestinal Malignancy Tumor Board at the University of Washington and collaborates within the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center's clinical research infrastructure to advance patient care and translational research.
