William J. Niebel is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School and Managing Attorney of the Tenants Advocacy Program. He specializes in landlord-tenant law, eviction defense, and housing policy. Niebel graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2005 and has extensive experience in tenant advocacy, including landmark cases such as War Eagle v. Plummer (2009). His work focuses on due process in eviction proceedings and post-pandemic legal challenges. He teaches the Tenants Advocacy Practicum, allowing students to assist tenants facing eviction. Niebel has published scholarly articles on housing law and frequently contributes to media discussions on tenant rights. His career spans roles at Iowa Legal Aid, the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, and Legal Services of Central New York.
