William Mitchell

William Mitchell is a Professor of Economics at the University of Newcastle, Australia, Director of the Centre of Full Employment and Equity (CofFEE), and holds adjunct roles at the University of Helsinki (Docent Professor of Global Political Economy) and Kyoto University (Guest International Professor). He is a leading figure in Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) and has authored influential works on macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and full employment strategies. Mitchell received his PhD in Economics from the University of Newcastle (1998), following a Master of Economics (Monash University, 1982) and Bachelor of Commerce (Deakin University, 1977).
