معرفی
Professor William M. Megill researches and teaches at the intersection of biology, physics, and engineering at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences' Faculty of Technology and Bionics. With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in underwater robotics and biomimetic sensor systems. His team develops propulsion systems and sensors inspired by coastal/riverine organisms, testing robots in the Spoy Canal, North Sea, Mediterranean, and Atlantic.
- Teaches in Bionics Master's and Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics Bachelor's programs
- Founded FabLab.blue for prototype development
- Leads international submarine competitions team
- Collaborates with institutions in Wales, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, Ghana, Mexico, USA, and Canada
Research focuses on biomimetic underwater robotics, fluid-structure interactions, and ecological monitoring using autonomous systems. His work integrates natural inspiration into engineering solutions for aquatic environments.
The team's interdisciplinary approach combines robotic prototyping, ecological field studies, and sensor development for real-world applications. Students engage in hands-on learning through laboratory courses and the university's submarine team.
