William L. Luyben

William L. Luyben is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh University's Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. With a career spanning over five decades at Lehigh since 1967, he specializes in the design and control of coupled reactor-column processes, reactive distillation, and plant-wide recycle stream management. His work focuses on optimizing industrial chemical processes for energy efficiency and cost reduction.

His contributions to distillation research were highlighted at the AIChE 2011 annual conference, where multiple sessions were held in his honor. Former students and colleagues worldwide continue to advance distillation design and control based on his foundational work.
