William L. Barney

William L. Barney is Professor of History at UNC Chapel Hill specializing in 19th-century U.S. history, particularly the antebellum South and secession politics. His current research examines cultural and economic dimensions of secession movements. He teaches courses covering U.S. history from colonial era to Reconstruction.
