William Kurtz

William Kurtz is an Instructor of Accountancy at the Department of Accountancy within the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. He holds a B.B.A. in Accountancy from WMU and has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Michigan since 1982. His teaching focuses on foundational accounting principles, including Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting.

Before academia, Kurtz held accounting and financial management roles in banking and served as Chief Financial Officer for a private liberal arts college in mid-Michigan. He transitioned to higher education in 2008, initially as an adjunct instructor, and later guest-lectured at the University of Michigan on budgeting for higher education. This experience solidified his passion for teaching introductory accounting courses.
