William Hankins is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Gregory D. Brown Department of Finance, Economics & Accounting within the College of Business and Industry at Jacksonville State University. He holds a PhD in Economics from The University of Alabama and BAs in Economics and Political Science from Auburn University.
Research Interests: His work explores how political institutions, partisan dynamics, and policy uncertainty influence economic outcomes. Key areas include fiscal policy, income inequality, corporate finance, and state-level economic responses to political shocks.
Publication Trends: His research spans empirical economics, political economy, and macroeconomic modeling, with a focus on U.S. state-level data. Recurring themes involve analyzing partisan governance, banking deregulation, federal spending allocation, and corporate cash management under uncertainty.
Teaching: Professor Hankins teaches courses such as Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Money and Banking, and Public Finance. He also advises the Enactus Chapter and serves on the Faculty Commons Advisory Board.
