William Dupps, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. He holds appointments in Ophthalmology, Biomedical Engineering, and Transplantation at Cleveland Clinic. His expertise includes corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery. Dr. Dupps leads the Ocular Biomechanics and Imaging Laboratory, focusing on keratoconus biomechanics and computational modeling for refractive surgery outcomes.
Education: Purdue University (B.S., Chemical Engineering), The Ohio State University (M.S./Ph.D., Biomedical Engineering; M.D. with honors via MSTP). Residency at University of Iowa, followed by fellowships at the National Eye Institute and Cole Eye Institute.
Research interests span ocular biomechanics, corneal surgery, and translational technologies. Awards include the Kritzinger Award, American Ophthalmological Society membership, and patents for surgical methods and eye modeling. He serves as Editor of the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and holds industry relationships with Alcon, Inc. and OptoQuest, Inc.
