William Downs is a Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), where he has held leadership roles since at least 1992. His career at UNI included serving as Director of the Center for the Study of Adolescence (1992–2001) and leading the Master of Social Work Program (2001–2003). He also acted as Interim Head of the Social Work department in 2012–2013. His work focuses on social work, adolescence, and community development.
