William Buttemer

William Buttemer is a Professor and Honorary Fellow at the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences (SEALS), University of Wollongong. His research focuses on comparative physiology, particularly the physiological appraisal of animal life history, integrating disciplines like physics, biochemistry, and ecology. Current projects examine malarial infection effects on avian physiology and migratory patterns. He has supervised 9 PhD and Master's students, including studies on pesticide impacts, avian aging, and ecological physiology. Notably, his work has explored the oxidative stress theory of aging and the effects of pesticides like fenitrothion and fipronil on wildlife.
