William Barnes is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of St. Thomas, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on ancient Mexican art, particularly Central Mexican sculpture and Mesoamerican manuscript painting. He examines Aztec imperial art strategies and the role of the Mesoamerican calendar in royal monuments. His interests also extend to early colonial Latin American and Pre-Columbian Andean art.
