William A. Wood, MD, MPH is a Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, specializing in the Division of Hematology within the Department of Medicine. He is a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves as the medical director for patient navigation at the UNC Cancer Center. Dr. Wood also holds the position of senior medical advisor to the American Society of Hematology Research Collaborative (ASH RC).
Dr. Wood's educational background includes undergraduate studies at Harvard Medical School and Duke University, followed by a Harvard Combined Residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and a fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His research focuses on understanding and improving the patient experience for those with cancer and hematologic diseases. He employs methodologies including real-world evidence development, patient-reported outcomes, patient-generated health data implementation, and patient-centered healthcare delivery interventions. His clinical practice centers on bone marrow transplantation, cellular therapy, and malignant hematology.
