Willard Gingerich

Willard Gingerich is a Professor of English at Montclair State University, affiliated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut, with additional studies in Mexico at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia. His research focuses on colonial and post-colonial literatures of Mexico, including translations and studies of Nahuatl texts and contemporary American poetry. Gingerich served as Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at Montclair State University from 2008 to 2021, previously holding leadership roles at Fairleigh Dickinson University and St. John's University. His administrative contributions include establishing UN-accredited academic consortia, faculty recognition programs, and strategic planning initiatives.

His academic work bridges pre-Hispanic and modern literary studies, emphasizing performance poetry, indigenous cultural preservation, and interdisciplinary approaches.
