Will Howard

Dr Will Howard is an Honorary Associate Professor at the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions and a Visiting Fellow at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, Australian National University. He holds a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Brown University and has held roles such as Head of Science at the Office of the Chief Scientist in Canberra (2016–2017). His research focuses on climate science, ocean acidification, climate policy, and Southern Ocean dynamics. He has contributed to initiatives like the Sedimentary Basin Management Initiative and the Southern Ocean Observing System. Howard advises the Australian Government’s Climate Change Authority and actively participates in international climate research collaborations. His work integrates paleoceanographic studies, marine ecosystem analysis, and policy-oriented climate solutions.
