Wiaam Al-Hasani

Wiaam Al-Hasani is a Research Fellow at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, affiliated with the School of Academic Psychiatry and the Department of Psychosis Studies. She is an Honorary Senior Registrar in Chemical Pathology and Cardiometabolic Medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Her work bridges clinical pathology, mental health, and metabolic disorders, with a focus on biochemical mechanisms linking severe mental health disorders to cardiometabolic dysfunction.

Research interests include the biochemical changes in schizophrenia, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, particularly in how these conditions intersect with psychosis. She collaborates with Professor Oliver Howes’ psychosis studies group, contributing to projects on metabolic health in schizophrenia patients.

Awarded the prestigious Pre-doctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellowship, her interdisciplinary approach combines clinical practice with translational research. Beyond academia, her passion for baking and culinary chemistry reflects an interest in biochemical interactions, mirroring her professional curiosity about biological systems.
