Whitney Drewrey

Whitney Drewrey is a Clinical Instructor of Special Education and Program Coordinator of The Bridge Program at The University of Mississippi. She holds roles in the Department of Teacher Education and School of Education, with a focus on advancing educational practices for students with disabilities.

Education: B.A. Psychology (University of Mississippi, 1990), National Board Certification in Early Childhood Science (Mississippi Valley State University), M.Ed. Special Education (Arkansas State University, 2012), Ed.S. Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (William Carey University, 2020), and currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Special Education (University of Mississippi).

Research interests include peer mentoring for college students with autism, autism spectrum disorders, and inclusive educational strategies. She has over 20 years of K-12 teaching experience, including general education and special education roles. Notably, she was recognized as Mississippi’s Teacher of the Year in 2018.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as EDSP 308 (Introduction to Special Education), EDSP 327 (Classroom Management), and EDLE 467 (Student Teaching: Exceptional Students). She is affiliated with the Special Education B.A. program and coordinates The Bridge Program, supporting students with disabilities in higher education settings.
