Dr. Weston Bland is a historian of the modern Middle East and a post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford. He holds a PhD from the Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures at the University of Pennsylvania (2024). His work focuses on the social, political, and religious history of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox community in the 19th and 20th centuries, with secondary interests in sectarianism, mobility, and knowledge transmission in the region.
