Dr. Wenqi Lu is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Artificial Intelligence at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of Computing and Mathematics. She previously served as a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Centre, focusing on machine learning methods for computational pathology. Her PhD from the University of Birmingham, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, explored regularization and discretization in diffuse optical tomography.
Her research spans medical image analysis, computational pathology, and inverse models, with publications in high-impact journals like Medical Image Analysis and The Lancet Digital Health, as well as top conferences such as AAAI and CVPR. She contributed to the development of the TIAToolbox, an open-source library for tissue image analytics.
Dr. Lu teaches Algorithms and Data Structures to BSc and MSc students. Her work emphasizes AI-driven solutions for healthcare challenges, including cancer diagnosis, image registration, and prognostic marker development. Awards include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship.
Her research portfolio highlights interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging computer science, mathematics, and clinical applications. Current projects include AI-based prescreening systems for colorectal biopsies and advanced 3D surface reconstruction techniques.
