Wendy L. Ward

Wendy L. Ward, Ph.D. is a tenured Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. She also serves as Associate Provost for Faculty in Academic Affairs at UAMS. Her expertise spans behavioral health, faculty affairs, and integrated team-based care, with a focus on pediatric psychology.

• Education: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (University of North Carolina at Greensboro), APA-accredited internship at Rush-St Luke’s-Presbyterian Medical Center, postdoctoral fellowship at UAMS.

Dr. Ward specializes in clinical practice areas including coping with chronic illness/injury, nonpharmacological pain management, adherence to medication protocols, and sleep disorders. She also addresses health behavior changes for obesity/weight management. Her awards include the UAMS Chancellor’s Teaching Award, American Psychological Association Fellowship, and National Academy of Practice Fellowship.

As Associate Provost, she leads the Center for Faculty Excellence and oversees faculty recruitment, mentoring, promotion/tenure review, and retirement transitioning. She also manages the Office of Continuing Education, providing interprofessional credits for statewide events. Her practice locations include Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the James L. Dennis Developmental Center.
