Wendy Bollag is a Professor of Physiology at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia, with secondary appointments in the Departments of Oral Biology, Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Dermatology, and Orthopedic Surgery. She serves as a VA Research Career Scientist at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (2011–2016) and holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from Yale University (1990).
- Ph.D., Molecular Physiology, Yale University, 1990
- MS, Molecular Physiology, Yale University, 1988
- BS, Biochemistry, Pennsylvania State University, 1984
Her research focuses on hormonal and lipid signaling mechanisms in keratinocyte differentiation and aldosterone secretion. Key projects include investigating phospholipase D (PLD) and protein kinase D (PKD) roles in skin diseases, and exploring how VLDL contributes to hypertension via aldosterone dysregulation. Her work spans skin physiology, cardiovascular endocrinology, and inflammatory aging.
Recent publications highlight her innovations in phosphatidylglycerol-based therapies for psoriasis and wound healing, alongside inflamm-aging studies in renal disease. Awards include Augusta University's Distinguished Researcher Award (2019), VA Research Career Scientist (2021), and Fellow of the American Heart Association (2011).
She advises a multidisciplinary team including Dr. Vivek Choudhary (Assistant Research Scientist), Dr. Sara Chen (Research Manager), and graduate students exploring skin disease mechanisms and adrenal hormone regulation. Her lab's translational impact spans psoriasis models, corneal repair, and obesity-related hypertension.
