Weixing Chen is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering. His academic journey includes a B.Eng. and M.Sc. in Physical Metallurgy from Dalian University of Technology (1984, 1987) and a Ph.D. in Physical Metallurgy from the University of Manitoba (1995). He has held positions at Nova Chemicals Limited, the Institute for Aerospace Research (NRC), and SINOPEC before joining the University of Alberta in 1999.
- Research Focus: Stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, high temperature corrosion, and synthesis of carbon-based materials for energy storage and CO2 capture
