معرفی
Dr. Weiwei Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His research focuses on ion channel clusters and their roles in signal transduction, using advanced techniques like cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), electrophysiology, and fluorescence microscopy. He leads the Wang lab, which develops methods to study purified ion channels in artificial membranes to isolate cluster-forming effects. Key projects include investigating the structural and functional mechanisms of channels like GIRK, hERG, and TRAAK, as well as glycine receptors.
Education: B.Sc. in Material Physics from Sun Yat-sen University (2005); Ph.D. in Biology from University of Science and Technology of China (2012). Postdoctoral training with Dr. Roderick MacKinnon at Rockefeller University (2012–2018).
Research Interests: Ion channel biophysics, membrane protein structure-function relationships, and molecular mechanisms of ion channel clustering and regulation. Techniques include single-particle cryo-EM, electrical recording, and fluorescence microscopy for real-time observation of channel dynamics.
Selected Publications Highlight: 2024 work on freestanding bilayer microscopy; 2021 structural analysis of human glycine receptors; 2017 cryo-EM structure of hERG channels.
