Weiwei Luo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and affiliated faculty in the East Asian Studies Program at Grinnell College. Her research examines legal and economic history of East Asia, with specialized focus on institutional development and citizen-state interactions in imperial China.
Dr. Luo's educational background includes:
- J.D. from Washington University School of Law (Alex Handler Scholar, Law Awards Scholar)
- Ph.D. in History from Columbia University
Her scholarship investigates how legal frameworks shaped socioeconomic development in historical contexts, particularly through citizen mobilization of legal systems for political participation. Current work centers on late imperial China's legal culture and its relationship to governance structures.
