Dr. Amanda Boston is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Africana Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Her work focuses on 20th-century and contemporary African American urban history, politics, and popular culture, particularly examining gentrification and structural racism in Brooklyn, New York.
- Education: PhD and MA in Africana Studies from Brown University; MA and BA in Political Science and African & African American Studies from Duke University
Her research explores how racial histories and neoliberal policies shape Black communities. She has received funding from major institutions like the Ford Foundation and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
