Dr. Weining Ning is a Lecturer in Computer-based Industrial/Product Design at the Design School within Brunel University London's College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. She joined Brunel in 2022 after completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge and serves as Academic Exchange Coordinator for the Design School.
Her educational background includes doctoral training at the University of Cambridge. Research interests focus on Inclusive Design with specialized applications:
- Design for aging populations
- Inclusive AI systems
- Sustainability-inclusion intersections
- Design cognition mechanisms
- Designer-centric methodologies
Current research projects demonstrate significant grant acquisition and leadership:
- Principal Investigator for Engineering industrial designers for a more inclusive and sustainable world (British Council, 2024–present)
- Principal Investigator for Inclusive design for the ageing population: exploiting the power of AI (USC-SJTU Institute, 2024–present)
- Working group leader for UK-China Creative Industries Research and Innovation Hub Fellowship (AHRC, 2023–2024)
PhD supervision includes projects on sustainable microbial colouration processes, VR-oriented human-computer interaction systems, and co-supervision of inclusive AI/stigma research. She teaches Postgraduate Computer Aided Design and coordinates academic exchange programs.
