معرفی
Weimu Xu is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at University College Dublin's School of Earth Sciences. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and has held prestigious fellowships including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. Her research focuses on paleoclimatology, biogeochemical cycles, and climate change mitigation, with expertise in Large Igneous Province (LIP) volcanism and geochemical proxies.
- Affiliations: University College Dublin (2020–present), Trinity College Dublin (2018–2020), University of Oxford (2017–2018), Shell China (early career).
- Education: BSc/MSc from Peking University; DPhil (Earth Sciences) from Oxford.
Research Interests: Dr. Xu investigates mechanisms controlling paleoclimate and geochemical cycles, organic carbon sequestration during greenhouse events, and enhanced weathering as a climate mitigation strategy. She participates in international drilling initiatives like IODP Expedition 396 and the ICDP JET project.
Publications: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles, including studies on Early Jurassic carbon cycles, continental margin magmatism, and Paleocene-Eocene climate dynamics. Recent work highlights links between volcanic activity and climate change, as well as lacustrine carbon sequestration during anoxic events.
- Awards: Marie Curie Fellowship (2019–2023), Best Student Oral Presentation (2015), Geophysics Scholarship (2007).
- Grants: Including funding for PALEOCARBON (2020–2023) and Northeast Atlantic Breakup studies.
Teaching: Coordinates courses like Global Environmental Change and teaches modules on field geology and low-temperature geochemistry.
