Weiming Yao

Weiming Yao is Assistant Professor in Photonic Integration at TU/e, specializing in high-speed optical components and semiconductor lasers. His work bridges photonic networks and device physics to develop integrated circuits for communications and neuromorphic computing.

Current research explores intimate photonic-electronic integration for neural network implementations and high-density circuits. He received the 2019 NWO Veni grant for 'Light up the brain: accelerating AI research with integrated photonics'.

Publications focus on RF crosstalk reduction, monolithic transmitters, and electro-optic modulation in InP-based platforms. Teaching includes courses on classical physics and optical networks.
