Weilai Yu

Weilai Yu is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, following his graduate studies at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) under Prof. Nathan S. Lewis. His research focuses on advancing photoelectrochemical (PEC) solar fuel generation through the study of III-V compound semiconductors, with an emphasis on materials durability and energy-conversion properties. Prior to his postdoc, he was a graduate researcher at the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP).

Research interests include developing high-performance photoelectrodes for sustainable solar fuel production, bridging fundamental materials science with applied energy systems. His work aims to optimize semiconductor materials for efficient, sunlight-driven chemical fuel generation under practical conditions.

Awarded the Resnick Second-Year Graduate Research Fellowship during his Caltech tenure, reflecting recognition of his contributions to renewable energy research. Weilai’s interdisciplinary approach integrates chemistry, materials science, and engineering to address global energy challenges.
