Dr. Weihua Zhang is an Assistant Professor in Operations Management at Northumbria University. She previously held a postdoctoral position at the University of Graz in Austria.
Her research focuses on closed-loop supply chain management, supply chain management, sustainability, circular economy, and operations research. She employs quantitative methods including mathematical modeling, optimization, and simulation in her work. Dr. Zhang is academically active and serves as a reviewer for top journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research (ABS 4*) and Annals of Operations Research (ABS 3*).
Her publications demonstrate a consistent research trajectory in sustainable operations and supply chain optimization. Recent work (2024-2025) explores innovative areas including charging station operations for ride-hailing platforms with new energy vehicles and financial mechanisms in servitizing supply chains. Earlier significant contributions focus on remanufacturing systems, consumer behavior regarding remanufactured products, and multi-objective optimization methods.
Dr. Zhang holds a PhD in Management Science (awarded January 7, 2014) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), demonstrating her commitment to excellence in both research and teaching.
