Dr. Weihong Zhang is a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in the Discipline of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds a PhD (2022), MPH, and MOT. Her work focuses on healthy ageing, fall prevention in cognitively impaired older adults, and the interplay between cognitive impairment and gait disorders.
Dr. Zhang teaches undergraduate and postgraduate occupational therapy courses and supervises HDR students. Current projects include an Integrated Safe Mobilisation Program pilot study and research on higher-level gait disorders linked to cognitive impairment. She is affiliated with the Sydney Dementia Network Executive and Sydney Health Partners Geriatric Medicine.
Her research themes span Neurosciences and Mental Health, and Healthy Ageing, with a focus on dementia, occupational therapy interventions, and fall prevention strategies. She has secured grants including the 2023 FMH Start-up Scheme. Dr. Zhang's clinical background spans 20 years in acute care, rehabilitation, and community settings for neurological and geriatric populations.
