Weihong Ning

Weihong Ning serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems within the College of Business at Central Connecticut State University. Her office is located in the R.C. Vance Academic Center, room 448.

Dr. Ning holds two PhD degrees from Texas Tech University, demonstrating her interdisciplinary expertise: a PhD in Management Information Systems (2021) and a PhD in Physical Education and Sports (2014).

Her research program bridges technology and human behavior, with significant contributions to understanding technology addiction, smartphone usage patterns, and their impacts on work performance, academic achievement, and physical health. Dr. Ning has developed innovative research at the intersection of physical activity and digital technology, exploring how exercise can mitigate negative effects of smartphone addiction, particularly among Generation Z. Her scholarly work spans multiple disciplines including psychology, information systems, sports science, and finance, reflecting her comprehensive approach to studying technology's influence on human behavior.

Dr. Ning teaches a diverse range of courses including MIS 201 Introduction to Management Information Systems, MIS 399 Business Analytics and Decision Support, MIS 460 Emerging Technologies for Business: Exercise and Sports Analytics, and graduate-level courses in Sports Analytics and Strategic IT Alignment. Her unique dual expertise in both information systems and physical education is particularly evident in her specialized courses that integrate technology with sports and physical activity.
