Dr. Weidong Xia is a Professor at Florida International University's Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics. With extensive publication experience in top-tier journals including MIS Quarterly and Decision Sciences, he serves as Associate Editor of Information Systems Research and editorial board member of Journal of Database Management. His academic career includes previous faculty positions at the University of Minnesota where he coordinated MBA/MIS programs and taught at PhD, Executive MBA, MBA, and undergraduate levels.
Dr. Xia's research focuses on information systems organizational design, project team dynamics, and technology implementation in healthcare and business contexts. His work examines coordination mechanisms in complex projects, IT affordances in medical settings, and organizational factors influencing software development agility.
As co-founder and co-director of the CIO Research Consortium on IS/IT Organizational Design and Governance, he maintains strong industry connections. A certified Six Sigma black belt, Dr. Xia has consulted with Fortune 500 companies on process optimization and organizational design challenges.
