Wei Zhan is a Chicago Prize Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago, hosted by Bill Fefferman. He will join Purdue University as an Assistant Professor in the fall. His research focuses on theoretical computer science, complexity theory, and quantum computation, with a current emphasis on quantum mechanics and randomness in computational contexts.
Education: Wei Zhan received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University, where he was advised by Ran Raz.
His research interests include theoretical computer science, complexity theory, quantum computation, and the interplay between quantum mechanics and computational resources. He is currently exploring the power and limitations of quantum mechanics and randomness in computational frameworks.
In his recent work, Zhan has focused on developing novel imaging techniques for radiation therapy, such as ionizing radiation acoustic imaging (iRAI) for real-time dosimetry and volumetric dose mapping. His studies address challenges in precision dosimetry during radiotherapy, integrating acoustic and ultrasound modalities for enhanced accuracy in cancer treatment monitoring.
Scientific Awards: Chicago Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship, BEST IN PHYSICS (THERAPY) Award.
Advising and Grants: Currently, he oversees no listed advisees. Specific grants are not detailed in the provided information.
