Dr. Wei Yin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University and serves as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Outreach in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS). She holds a B.E. from Tianjin University, an M.S. from The University of Akron, and a Ph.D. from Stony Brook University. Her research focuses on cardiovascular biomechanics, particularly the role of blood flow dynamics in platelet and endothelial cell interactions, complement activation, and the effects of secondhand smoke on cardiovascular disease. Her work integrates computational fluid dynamics, in vitro experiments, and biomarker discovery.
- Education:
- B.E. Biomedical Engineering, Tianjin University (1999)
- M.S. Biomedical Engineering, University of Akron (2001)
- Ph.D. Biomedical Engineering, Stony Brook University (2004)
Dr. Yin's research spans cardiovascular disease mechanisms, including thrombosis, aerogel biomaterials, and the impact of environmental factors like e-cigarettes. She has published extensively in journals such as Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology and Thrombosis Research, and contributed to clinical innovations like medical device design and patient-specific coronary artery modeling.
