Wei Ma is a Full Professor and Electronic Resources Management & Reference/Instruction Librarian at California State University, Dominguez Hills. They also serve as the Assistive Technology Librarian and work as a liaison to the College of Education, supporting students and faculty across multiple departments including Liberal Studies, Teacher Education, Graduate Education, School Leadership, Counseling, and Special Education.
Dr. Ma's research focuses on assistive technology for users with disabilities and diverse learning styles. Their work bridges library science with accessibility technology, creating innovative solutions for students with special needs. They developed the "From Print to Audio project" (reported by Chronicle of Higher Education in 2009), which helps students who benefit from alternative learning formats through audio conversion services.
Dr. Ma's scholarly work spans library technology systems, database selection methodologies, and online reference services. Their research shows a progression from traditional library services to digital and accessibility-focused innovations, with early work on database selection expert systems evolving into contemporary assistive technology initiatives that address reading and vision disabilities.
