Dr. Wei Lin Teoh is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Research at the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM), where she also serves as MACS school representative on the Research Management Committee. Her academic journey began with a PhD in Applied Statistics from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2013.
Her research specializes in advancing Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methodologies, with particular focus on optimizing control charts for multivariate data, non-normal distributions, and small sample sizes. By integrating modern analytical tools, she develops robust frameworks for process monitoring and quality assurance across manufacturing and industrial applications. Her work bridges traditional SPC/SQC approaches with emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a consistent trend toward sophisticated control chart designs, particularly omnibus Sequential Probability Ratio Test (SPRT) methods for joint monitoring of process parameters. Key research areas include adaptive multivariate EWMA charts, dynamic sampling strategies, and optimal chart designs with guaranteed in-control performance. Her work increasingly incorporates real-world industrial applications, especially in high-quality manufacturing contexts.
- MIMOS Prestigious Award 2013 (national innovation recognition)
- Certificate of Best Paper Award (2023, 2024 IEEE conferences)
- Certificate of Excellence: Outstanding Research Presentation 2016
- Dean's List 2010 academic honor
As Principal Investigator and co-researcher, she manages multiple external and internal grants focused on new control charting methods for manufacturing industries. She actively mentors PhD students and maintains a robust international research network spanning Malaysia, France, UK, Italy, China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Her leadership extends to serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation and as a visiting researcher at Dong A University's International Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Vietnam.
