Wei En Chan is an Assistant Professor at Allegheny College, teaching classical vocal performance, arts entrepreneurship, and music theatre performance. He holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory (studying with Dr. Ian Howell) and a B.M. from Ithaca College (studying with Professor Carol McAmis).
- Active countertenor performer in Asia and North America
- Co-chair of Early Music America’s IDEA Task Force
- Founder and Artistic Director of Camerata Nova Anglia’s recital series
- Specializes in early music, contemporary works, and DEI strategies
His research and performance focus on countertenor vocal techniques, with highlights including lead roles in Handel’s Oreste and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. He has premiered contemporary works like Jonathan Shin’s The Other Merlion & Friends and Cerise Jacobs’ videogame opera Permadeath.
