Wayne Sanderson

Wayne Sanderson, Ph.D., CIH, is a Professor and Director of the Central Appalachian Regional Education Research Center (CARERC) and the Southeast Center for Agricultural Health and Injury Prevention (SCAHIP) at the University of Kentucky. He works in the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department within the College of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (1997)
• M.S. in Industrial Hygiene from Central Missouri State University (1978)
• B.A. in Biology from the University of Missouri (1976)

His research focuses on occupational and environmental health challenges affecting workers and rural populations, including respiratory diseases, cancer, infectious diseases, injuries, and chronic conditions like kidney disease and birth defects. He leads initiatives in epidemiology, exposure assessment, and implementation of health control measures.
