Wayne Omagamre

Wayne Omagamre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences. His affiliations include his current professorship (August 2024–Present) and prior positions from 2011–2018 and 2023–2024. He holds a PhD from UMES (2022) and MS/BS degrees from Nigeria's University of Benin.

Dr. Omagamre's research specializes in environmental microbiology and bioremediation, with emphasis on microbial degradation of PFAS pollutants in landfill sediments. This work addresses critical challenges in environmental contamination and sustainable remediation.

His 2025 Trends in Microbiology publication advances understanding of PFAS breakdown mechanisms in landfills, intersecting microbiology, environmental engineering, and waste management.
