Wassilios Baros

Wassilios Baros is a Professor of Educational Research at the University of Salzburg's Department of Educational Science, School of Education. His roles include membership in the Promotion Commission, Internationalization Officer, and leadership of the DSP College (GlokFul). He joined the university in 2017 after holding positions at the University of Augsburg (2013–2017) and Goethe University Frankfurt (2011–2013). He also holds a part-time professorship in Intercultural Education at Democritus University of Thrace (since 2014).

Education: Studied Educational Science at the University of Ioannina, Peace and Conflict Research at FernUniversität Hagen (1998), and completed his doctorate in Intercultural Pedagogy at the University of Cologne (2000). Postdoctoral research at Bielefeld University (2004–2005) and early career as a Lecturer in Intercultural Education at Democritus University of Thrace (2006).

Research focuses on migration education, educational theory, methodological integration, and constructive philosophy. Key interests include injustice dynamics, intergenerational education in migration contexts, childhood studies, and transitions from school to work. Current projects include MECLES, DEOS, SEVER, and SAMESOL.

Publications span critical pedagogy, migration policy analysis, and media reception studies, with recent works addressing global competencies, pandemic-era education, and peacebuilding in conflict zones. His work bridges empirical research with theoretical frameworks to address societal challenges.
