معرفی
Washington Taylor is a Professor of Physics and Director of the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics — a Leinweber Institute (CTP-LI). His research focuses on quantum gravity, high energy physics, and particle theory, with contributions to string theory, D-branes, and cosmology. He also explores mathematical models in ecology and evolution.
Education: BA in Mathematics from Stanford University, PhD in Physics from UC Berkeley (1993). Postdoctoral research at MIT’s CTP (1993–1995), faculty at Princeton University (1995–1998), returned to MIT as full professor in 2002. Served as CTP Director from 2016–2018.
Teaching includes undergraduate/graduate courses on electromagnetism, quantum field theory, and the Physics of Energy (course 8.21), co-developed with Prof. Robert Jaffe. Authored a textbook, The Physics of Energy (2018).
Awards include the PROSE Award (2019), Buechner Teaching Prize (2009), and Sloan Fellowship (1998).
Advising and grants: No listed advisees, but prominent in theoretical physics education and research funding. Affiliated with CTP-LI and involved in interdisciplinary projects.
