Warner Wood is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate Program in Museum Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997) with a Latin American Studies Concentration and a Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory Certificate. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at Central Washington University (2006–2010) and Associate Professor/Director of the Centennial Museum at the University of Texas, El Paso (2010–2012). His career began at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles (2001–2006), where he curated exhibits.
Research interests focus on museum studies, critical heritage, public anthropology, and Latin America. Current projects involve community co-management of natural resources and ecotourism development in Oaxaca, Mexico. Wood has authored Made in Mexico: Zapotec Weavers and the Global Ethnic Art Market (2008) and published in Museum Anthropology Review (2016).
No scientific awards or grants are explicitly listed. He has curated exhibits in Los Angeles, Ellensburg, and El Paso.
