Waqas Ejaz is an OCJN Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ), University of Oxford. He holds a PhD from the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. His research focuses on digital media effects, climate change communication, political communication, and computational journalism. He has explored how negative political news impacts European identity and currently investigates climate change news consumption across eight countries.

Research Interests: Waqas examines the interplay between media consumption patterns and societal identities. His work addresses misinformation dynamics, climate change journalism in the Global South, and the role of digital platforms in shaping public opinion. Recent studies include cross-cultural analyses of climate change beliefs and fact-checking efficacy in Pakistan.
Current Projects: Leading an international comparative study on climate change news audiences for RISJ, exploring how media use influences environmental attitudes globally.
Advising & Grants: Previously served as an Assistant Professor in Pakistan, focusing on computational communication research. Has contributed to projects funded by international collaborations.
Labs/Teams: Active researcher within RISJ's global media research network, collaborating with institutions across eight countries.
