Walter Castelnovo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Sciences, Innovation and Territory at the University of Insubria, Italy. He teaches Information Systems and Interorganizational Information Systems, and has been a key figure in advancing research in e-government and organizational innovation.
His research interests focus on technological and organizational innovation in Public Administration, E-Government, Connected/Networked Government, and Interorganizational Networks. These areas reflect his long-standing commitment to understanding how digital transformation impacts governance and public service delivery.
Walter Castelnovo serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Information Systems and Technology Management (JISTEM) and is actively involved in the academic community through his membership on the conference committees of major international events such as the European Conference on E-Government (ECEG), European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation (ECIME), and the International Conference on Information Systems and Technology Management (CONTECSI). He previously served as Conference Chair for ECIME 2011 and General Chair for ECEG 2013, demonstrating leadership in the field.

His teaching history at the University of Insubria spans courses such as Information Systems, Networked Organizational Systems, Formal and Computational Models for Natural Language Processing, Programming Languages, and Information Elaboration Systems, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary background bridging computer science and organizational studies.
