Dr Walter B. Pedriali is a Lecturer in the School of Philosophical, Anthropological & Film Studies at the University of St Andrews. His research centers on foundational questions in logic and analytical philosophy, with a particular focus on Frege's theories and their implications for contemporary philosophical discourse.
Pedriali's scholarly output explores topics such as the essence of logic through Frege's lens, the normative role of meaning-constitutive principles, and challenges in the inscrutability of inference. His recent work addresses the limitations of Frege's Basic Laws of Arithmetic and their relevance to normative guidance in philosophical understanding.
His publications demonstrate a strong engagement with the historical evolution of logical systems, from Aristotle to Tarski, and analyze the interplay between assertion, conceptual analysis, and semantic frameworks. While no specific scientific awards are listed, Pedriali actively supervises PhD students, including Moira Lewitt, contributing to academic mentorship in philosophy.
