Wai Lau

Wai Lau is a Professor of Mathematics at Seattle Pacific University (SPU) in the Department of Mathematics and Data Science. He joined SPU in 2001 and previously held faculty positions at the University of Nevada at Reno and Colorado State University. His academic work bridges approximation theory and mathematical modeling, with a focus on computational methods and interdisciplinary applications.

His 2014 publication on compartmental pharmacokinetic models and 2006 study on spline spaces highlight his expertise in applied mathematics and numerical analysis.

At SPU, he mentors students in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling, fostering their analytical capabilities. His collaborative work, such as with Elisabeth Berg and Elizabeth Nguyen, underscores his commitment to integrating research and education.
