W. Lee Vinson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Percussion at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, where he contributes to the training of percussionists in a rigorous academic and performance environment. He maintains an active national and international presence as a performer, educator, and historian.
His research interests center on percussion performance, orchestral music, and the historical development of the snare drum. A dedicated educator, Vinson has taught at Boston University, the University of Kansas, and the Eastman School of Music as a guest lecturer. His work bridges performance practice with musicological inquiry, particularly in the realm of percussion instrument history and pedagogy.
